buildingTangier, The Inspirer... Tangier has long been coveted for its strategic position. Since Tingis was founded in the IVth century BC, Carthagians, Romans, Phoenicians, Vandals, Arabs, Spaniards, Portuguese, and the English have jealously fought for the right to control it. No African city is closer to Europe, no other Orient is more dearly loved by European or American artists - painters, musicians or authors. Delacrouix. Saint-Saïns, Matisse, Van Dongen, Tenessee Williams, Jean Genet, Joseph Kessel William Burroughs and Paulk Bowles to name a few, have all lived in Tangier - and been captivated by it's spell.

When the sea meets the ocean... There is always a reshoreason for exploring the region around Tangier. It may be for the beaches, or for the local culture. Those who love the sea can swim in the Atlantic after breakfast and in the Mediterranean after lunch, or vice versa. In Tangier, everything begins with the sea, and everything leads back to the sea.

NOT TO BE MISSED
THE OCEAN GOD...- In the baths at Lixus, 60m² of superb mosaics show the austere and majestic features of Neptune, surrounded by shellfish motifs
TWO SUNS OVER TANGIER- At Tangier, there are two promontories projecting into the waters of the two seas. Cape Malabatta looks towards the rising sun. To be visited in the glow of the pre-dawn when sky and sea melt together in one blue luminescence. Cape Spartel looks towards the Atlantic and the setting sun. To be seen at dusk, when the horizon is pink and the vegetation is bathed in golden light.
